Jane has Down’s Syndrome as well as significant hearing and speech impairments.
She is a resident at Linden House and has been at Camphill for almost twenty years and is very settled and happy there. She enjoys the structure of having a working day and is very much a valued member of the wider Camphill community.
There are six other residents in Linden and, along with staff and co- workers, they live together in a warm, homely and caring environment. Jane works in the basketry and the bakery and some mornings she helps to prepare lunch for the others in Linden.
Every week Jane attends a yoga class and goes riding. At other times she enjoys swimming and other social outings with Linden. She has a befriender, Angela, whom she sometimes goes to visit.
Her parents, Anne and Hugh say “It is very reassuring for us to know that Jane is happy and well cared for at Camphill. She visits us about every third weekend and spends time with her wider family, and is pleased to go back after her visit. There is always a very noisy welcome for her arrival back in Linden.
It is comforting to know that whatever the future brings, Jane is at home at Camphill and lives a fulfilling life there.”
