ANIMALTASTIC’ UPDATE – We are the People’s Millions Winner!

Compressed

Residents and staff were glued to their TV screens on Monday 25 November 2013 to see Camphill Blair Drummond’s National Lottery: People’s Millions pitch for £48,000 to fund facilities to keep animals, and we are delighted to announce that WE WON!  We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported us and voted for us – we couldn’t have done it without you.

Work is already well under way on building the new workshop, and our first animal residents, hopefully some rare breed chickens, should be living in their new homes by the time you are reading this. Pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs will move in shortly afterwards.

The workshop will provide therapeutic support for residents and day students.  There are many rewards to caring for animals, from emotional and sensory benefits and a predictable routine to enjoying life outdoors.

Caring for the animals in this new workshop will be a really rewarding activity for everyone in the community, caring for animals and so also learning to care for themselves and grow in independence.

Look out for more news on our Animaltastic endeavours coming soon.
