Progress so far
We are exceedingly grateful to those who have contributed their time and money to our appeal. Thanks to your generosity, we have made some fantastic leaps forward with our residents and day students already reaping the rewards. Here’s what we have achieved so far with your help.
Four new purpose-built care homes
Our fabulous new homes are light, airy and colourful with large welcoming hallways featuring relaxing sofas for informal chitchat. Each home has a substantial lounge with a television and large, modern, comfortable sofas and armchairs for sitting together or in smaller groups. They also have a small, cosy snug for quieter moments or for those who would like some time to themselves. The kitchen is the heart of every home and our modern open-plan kitchens certainly fit the bill with not one but two dining areas – a large dining area for family meals, and a smaller area perfect for morning coffee or a chat with a friend. Residents can enjoy a restful night’s sleep in their own bedrooms with the added privacy of en-suite bathrooms. With wider doors, residents with mobility or sensory disabilities can benefit from easy access.
Our residents are now enjoying adding their own personal stamp to the accommodation and sharing tasks around the home.
We have recently built four modern workshops which enable our residents and day students to enjoy a superb range of creative activities.
Woodwork and Estate Workshops
The new workshops have been in use for over two years now ,and for all connected with our community, it is very noticeable what positive effects purpose-built workshops can have on the quality of life and learning experience of all our residents and day students.
The new workshops are large, light and with a flexible work space. There is plenty of room for storage and specialist equipment to make learning easier and more enjoyable.
Craft and InTouch Workshops
The new Craft workshop is an impressive transformation from the old setting, which lacked space and natural light, and our InTouch workshop has its own bespoke space for the first time. Our new workshops have been designed with a purpose and finished to a high standard. They offer new work and learning opportunities for our students, staff and volunteers such that they can realise their creative potential.
We cannot stress enough the hope, joy and positive difference that your kind donations have brought to the lives of our residents, day students and families.
We have already achieved so much together but we still have a long way to go.
Why not visit our wonderful care homes for our adults with complex learning difficulties and see for yourself all the fabulous work we have been able to achieve thanks to your generosity. Contact us today to arrange a visit.
