Finding a Happy Place

Our son Liam started Camphill Blair Drummond as a day student in August 2021, towards the end of the pandemic.

His final year at school had been disrupted and, like many families, we were unsure how he would settle into something new. We need not have worried. From the beginning, Liam was welcomed with open arms and quickly became part of the Camphill community.

What struck us immediately was the warmth of the place. The enthusiasm of the staff is infectious, and you are always greeted with a smile when you arrive. Since joining Camphill, Liam has grown in confidence and independence while being supported and nurtured in a caring environment.

Watching Liam thrive made us want to give something back. Ron now volunteers as Chair of the Trustees, a role he thoroughly enjoys and one that allows him to support a community that has given so much to our family.

Looking ahead, we hope to see the Sport & Activity Centre embraced by the whole community. As for Liam, he describes Camphill Blair Drummond as his "happy place" and says it is "where he belongs." One day, he hopes to live there too.
