- What else you can expect
The experience you will have during your international volunteer year will change your perspective on the world and create new opportunities. Spend a year with us and discover what drives you and what direction you want to take in your life.
As an international volunteer at Camphill Blair Drummond, you’ll live in a baronial Scottish castle – built in 1869 – surrounded by five acres of gardens, set within a large country estate and overlooking Blair Drummond Safari Park.
'Having a room in a castle will forever be one of my most exciting ways to live. I’m so grateful every time I see this beautiful old building, and having a roommate and all the volunteers around you really helps with being away from home for so long.'

From our community, you’ll be able to walk, cycle or run on tracks that take you down to the River Teith, with views across to the 14th century Doune Castle (now a famous film location for Game of Thrones and Outlander) or wander further on to the local village of Doune.
A 15-minute bus ride will take you to the medieval city and castle of Stirling, once the capital of Scotland. From there, both Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than an hour away by train.
Nearby is Callander which lies within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, an internationally renowned, world-famous landscape. Here you can stroll along the river, spend the afternoon in one of the many cafes, or explore the miles of tracks and trails – on foot or by bike – that wind around the many lochs and mountains in the National Park.
Climb the majestic mountains of the Highlands, go island-hopping in the Outer Hebrides, stroll along remote white beaches on the west coast, wander through ancient pine forests, taste haggis on Burn’s Night, drink whisky straight from the cask, hear the roar of red deer stags in the glens, catch a rare sighting of the Loch Ness monster, explore ancient castles and historic cities, lose yourself amongst the street artists and performers at the International Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and be moved by the skirl of the bagpipes as they fill the air at Highland games and festivals.
You will share memories, experiences, adventures, fun and laughter with up to 34 like-minded people of your own age – from places as far away as Colombia, Brazil, Germany, Hungary, South Korea and Australia. This opens endless possibilities of future travel, connections and adventures across the globe in the company of good friends.
"A new culture, new customs and new people. Knowing a little more and exploring what the place has to offer has been like a hobby for me.
Diverse landscapes, warm and pleasant weather in Summer, and white and dark snow in Winter.
A yellow, red and orange Autumn
and a Spring full of colours.
Typical and unique foods combined with a glass of tea with milk.
Scotland, in addition to being a place with a lot of history and achievement, is also now one of my favourite places in the world."
