Family Day 2026

Family Day has long provided an opportunity for families and friends to come together during the summer, with everything from garden activities and barbecues to talent shows and musical bingo taking place over the years.

This year, as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, the team built on that tradition to create something even more special. One person involved in the planning jokingly described it as:"A Family Day on steroids!"

Alongside live music, lawn games and a marquee, there were food and refreshment options available throughout the day, including festival-style food trucks serving favourites such as fish and chips and ice cream. The Celebrating 50 Years Exhibition was also open throughout the day, giving families and friends the opportunity to explore stories, memories and milestones from across the decades.

For many, it was the chance to spend time together that made the day memorable. Residents, students, families and employees shared positive feedback after the event, with one person describing it as:

"A wee mini festival"
"The music was amazing."

"The best bit was being with friends, making new friends and meeting the families.

While some elements were unique to our 50th anniversary year, the heart of the event remained unchanged: bringing people together to reconnect, celebrate friendships and enjoy community life together.
