Flipping Fun on Pancake Day!
We kicked off the Easter season with our first event: Shrove Tuesday, more commonly known as Pancake Day. Traditionally, Shrove Tuesday was a time for spiritual and physical cleansing—a day to seek forgiveness and use up rich foods before the start of Lent, a period of fasting and reflection.
But why pancakes? In the past, households would use up ingredients like flour, milk, eggs, and sugar to prepare for Lent, turning them into delicious pancakes and enjoying a final feast before the days of restraint.
To honour this tradition, our community gathered for our famous Pancake Races, filled with laughter and friendly competition! After the race, we enjoyed a well-earned tea break, sharing delicious pancakes and great company. A big thank you to everyone who joined us—see you next year for more flipping excitement!
